Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-04-26
Website: mathbattle.org ("the Service", "we", "us")
1. Overview
The Service is a hobby / demonstration platform for organizing mathematical battle competitions. It is provided "as is" for entertainment and educational purposes. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and — importantly — the limitations of our data handling.
2. No Collection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
We do not intentionally collect, verify, or process personally identifiable information.
- Any name, email address, phone number, birthdate, city, photo, or other profile field that a user enters into the Service may be fictitious.
- We do not verify the authenticity of any information users provide.
- We do not treat user-supplied profile data as PII, and we do not apply PII-grade protections to it.
- Users are explicitly encouraged to use pseudonyms and fictional details.
If a user chooses to enter real personal information, they do so voluntarily and at their own risk. By submitting such information, the user acknowledges that:
- The Service was not designed to handle real personal data;
- We make no representations about the confidentiality, integrity, or security of such data;
- The user waives any claim against the Service or its operators arising from the disclosure, loss, or misuse of information they voluntarily provided.
3. Information We Receive
3.1. Information you provide directly
Account credentials (email address and password) and optional profile fields (name, phone, birthdate, city, avatar, preferred language). As stated above, we do not verify any of these and treat them as arbitrary user-supplied strings.
3.2. Information from Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0)
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google sends us:
- Your Google account email address;
- Your Google profile name;
- Your Google profile picture URL (if available);
- A unique Google account identifier.
We use this information solely to create and authenticate your account on the Service. We do not:
- access your Gmail, Google Drive, Contacts, Calendar, or any other Google service data;
- request scopes beyond basic profile and email;
- share Google-provided data with third parties;
- use Google-provided data for advertising or profiling.
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy , including the Limited Use requirements.
3.3. Technical information
Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request timestamps) are recorded for security and debugging. These logs are retained only as long as operationally necessary.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- authenticate users and maintain login sessions;
- display user profiles, teams, and tournament registrations within the Service;
- operate, maintain, and secure the Service.
We do not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not run advertising on the Service.
5. Cookies and Sessions
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.
6. Data Security
We follow reasonable technical measures (encrypted passwords, HTTPS in production, standard framework protections). However, because the Service is not intended to hold real personal information, we do not guarantee confidentiality, integrity, or availability of user data. Do not store anything on the Service that you would not be comfortable seeing publicly disclosed.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at the address below. Upon deletion, your profile is removed from our active database. Residual copies may remain in backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
You may also revoke the Service's access to your Google account at any time via myaccount.google.com/permissions .
8. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly process information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to the Service, please contact us and we will delete the associated account.
9. International Users
The Service may be operated from servers located outside your country. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in those locations. The Service is not designed to comply with the GDPR, CCPA, or other regional data-protection regulations; if you are subject to such laws and require compliant data handling, please do not use the Service.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. The "Effective date" above indicates the latest revision. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
